School Starts!!

But first, I must show you the Anna sandwich Anton made a few weeks ago! The pink blanket was the "lettuce".
And of course he had to make an Emma sandwich too. She thought it was the greatest! So anyway, Anton started school on Monday, with a full schedule of band, soccer, 4 honors classes and regular level English. He did great with 2 honors classes last year, and he seems really motivated to do well. He has gotten his heart set on going to UT and he really should be in the top 10% of his class to get in (that's University of Texas not Tennessee for all my family & friends in the southeast!). He was close last year so he knows he's got to work really hard.
Anyway, on a more fun note, he had band camp for 2 weeks before school started. He really enjoyed it, even though he was carrying a heavy drum in the Texas heat!! We made it up to the school with the girls for one practice. They LOVE watching their big brother drum in the marching band!!
Tuesday night we got to go to the school again for the "Panther Premiere" to see the band march and also play in the auditorium. Here's the band marching out to the parking lot. Anton is quickly approaching 6' tall - can you believe it???!!!

And back in the auditorium... I didn't get to see them play in the auditorium because it was past Emma's bedtime, but Anna and Tony had a blast.

I heard Anna danced during most of the indoor performance. I guess she was moving pretty fast!
Anna likes to play in the "marchin' band" too! This is her drum set - 2 sets of congos and her toy drum - one of her favorite things to do!On a totally unrelated note, we got to have Joanna over for a little while on Thursday, which is always exciting. Since they live so close to us, I decided to ride the bike back over to her house to take her home. I got the 3 girls helmuts on before going out into the garage, and they just looked so cute I had to take a picture... as usual they didn't stay put by the time I got the camera out, but you get the idea! Anna and Emma will start Mother's Day Out in a couple of weeks, and I am excited that Joanna will be in Anna's class again. I can't wait!!!!!!!

"Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute,
praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD."
Psalm 150:1-6

MORE BABY CUTENESS!

I have to take another break in the vacation photos to post some cute baby pics from the last few days...

Here's Emma eating breakfast. Usually I get a spoonful of oatmeal and put it on her tray for her to pick up and eat... The other day I decided to let her try doing it out of her own bowl. What a mess!!! By the way, she usually will not wear a bib so I have a few old t-shirts that I use for "breakfast shirts". Luckily lunch, dinner and snacks are much less messy foods. If we have spaghetti, she gets to eat it naked. Hopefully she'll get neater and wear a bib by the time the weather gets cold!Emma loves to wear sunglasses! I love putting dresses on her. When Anna was this age it was getting cold, and I didn't want to do stockings for everyday stuff. Now she hates wearing dresses. Anna asked me if we were going to church when she saw me putting this dress on Emma. I told her that Emma likes to wear dresses every day. She replied "Oh" with a "that's a pretty dumb idea" look on her face.We got to do something really fun this week that I don't have pictures of yet because they are on Tony's camera and I don't know how to download it - Anton at marching band practice!!!! Look for another post on that very soon along with more Anton news - he starts school on Monday!

This morning Anna asked me to put Emma in her lap. So I did, and they looked SOOOOO cute that I had to go get the camera. I was a little late...Anna loves to have her friends around, even when they're not really around... While she was eating a banana this morning, I overheard her having a conversation with her friend Caleb. I took this picture after I heard her say "You want some Caleb? Here, I will share with you". So she put half of the banana on the table for Caleb. A few minutes later she said "Oh you don't want it? Ok I'll eat it then". Funny girl!We actually got to go to Caleb's birthday party today, which was at Old McDonald's farm. It was really really fun, and really really hot! I didn't manage to get any pictures of Caleb - only girl pictures! Caleb was always ahead of us on the petting zoo trail playing with another boy. I'm sure Caleb's mom will put pictures on her blog in the next few days (http://www.theegefamily.blogspot.com/). So anyway, here's Anna and Emma checking out a donkey.

Anna saying hello to Joanna's baby sister Natalie. Tony trying to get Emma to feed the baby deer.
Anna feeding a Wallaby.Anna really loved riding the horse. This was her 2nd turn! I'm sure she would have gone back for more if we had let her!
Emma was just mildly curious and a little nervous with the horse, but she did it! Joanna is there behind her with mom-Jessica looking like an old pro.
A train ride is always exciting!

Anna and Joanna checking out the baby goats.

Emma really loved the baby goats. Riley, Anna and Emma on the tire swing. It so fun that Emma can join in a lot of the things that Anna does now.

My big girl - 1st time drinking from a juice box and sitting at a picnic table by herself!!!!

It was a very hot day!!Abby, Anna, Emma and Joanna playing on the sand hill. We came home with 2 very dirty, sweaty and tired girls.

Happy Birthday Caleb! We praise God for making you!!!

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139:13-14

NEW MEXICO VACATION - VOL 4 - BACK DECK RACES

The girls spent a lot of time out on the back deck, and Anna liked to run across the length of the deck. Emma soon wanted to join in the fun, so Tony would have them line up and then count 1,2,3 GO! Emma wasn't exactly running, but I don't think it will be long! I think Tony made Anna let Emma get a head start.I guess big sisters always win when you're only 1! Anna's turn!
What joy!!
Now Emma's turn!

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." Hebrews 12:1-3

SUMMER VACATION - VOL. 3 - NEW MEXICO CABIN

We got to our cabin Friday night, and Tony's brother Will showed up Saturday with his wife Jamie and baby Mia. Anna LOVED having a real live baby doll to play with!! Sweet Mia!
Will and Anton in the kitchen. Will is an excellent cook, and Anton liked hanging out with him and helping in the kitchen.
The view from the deck. By the way, I highly recommend using a vacation home by owner-type service to find vacation housing. I used homeaway.com to find this place. It was cheaper than a hotel and was really great.

The girls had lots of good times on the deck with Junior.
Will and Jamie stayed up in the loft room, but Emma and Anna sneaked up there whenever the gate was left open.

Next up - back deck races...
