Good-bye Oma

Most of my blog readers know that Tony's mother, "Oma" to our children, died a few weeks ago.  (Oma means grandmother in Dutch by the way).  Tony had 5 wonderful visits with her in Holland during her illness, including one with all of us at Spring Break.  He thought the 5th visit would be the last and was at peace with that, but felt called to go to her again in her last days.   He was able to spend 2 beautiful hours with her before she left us.  Her funeral was later that week, and he gave the eulogy.  He included this beautiful poem that her grandmother taught her and was in her heart all of her life...

Count your blessings

If in life’s ocean
The storms surround you
If you can’t succeed
And your heart tires
Count your blessings
Turn your gaze on Jesus
Then your heart will sing
And the worries will evaporate

Count your blessings
Count them one by one
Count them all and forget none
Count them all and name them one by one
And then God’s love will shine through it all

Tony took this picture of Oma, with our niece Mia, on one of his last visits.  She was able to go out in her garden and enjoy some nice weather in April and May.  It will be a joy to see her again someday! :)
