CO Part 3 - Still in Brec

One day when the boys were out, I tried to take the girls on a gondola ride, but there was thunder, so it was shut down. So we toured the fire station instead. Here's Anna on the firetruck. Emma was scared of it, so she's not in the picture. Anna was so very excited, and I'm sure she would've loved to have explored it more if I wasn't distracted by the hysterical toddler on the ground. This was at the fire fighting museum next store. In the old days, all the men from town would drag this thing with a long rope to go fight fires.

We drove over to Keystone one day to check out their downhilling (riding ski lifts up and riding a bike down the slopes). I was excited to try it because it is the only one we've stayed by that had "easy" trails all the way down. There are easy bike trails on most resorts, but you usually have to ride down harder trails to get to them. Anyway, I only made it down the first section and then rode the service road (a well maintained gravel road) the rest of the way down the mountain. It was a fun experience that I'm glad I tried, but I'll probably just stick to cross country trails from now on. That's me in the blue shirt about to get on the lift. I rode with Anton.

The girls hung out with Tony while Anton and I biked. This was at a playground right by the lifts.

There was a little creek too! After the ride, we had a yummy lunch at a fun outdoor restaurant.

After lunch, Tony and Anton rode together.

By then, the gondola started running, so I took the girls all the way to the top of the mountain. They LOVED it!

Tony and Anton had just ridden the lift up so we got to have a kodak moment together at the top of the mountain. It was starting to get cold though so we didn't stay up there long.

The ride back down was fun too!

Junior didn't like riding on the gondola so much, but he was a good boy. Getting him, the stroller and the girls on and off the gondola was interesting. It didn't stop, just slowed way down.

This was the service road I rode down on. It wasn't too rough but I did go pretty fast.

Back in Breckenridge... Tony and I got to ride together a couple of times, thanks to Anton!Not sure when this happened, but I thought it was cute!
Mia came to see us the next weekend! We showed her the creek.

I had to hike up the girls' skirts because they kept squatting in the water and the back of the skirt was just floating around in the water. I thought it was a cute look!Tony and Anna saw a moose one morning on their walk. Turns out he seems to hang out near that creek. This is as close as Tony got to him.

If you look close, you can see his head and giant rack in this one. Another bike ride for me. I took Junior with me a lot. That was great fun for me - and him too! He was really good about staying pretty close to me. I so love my dog!!!Anton wanted to take the girls ice skating. The rink was by a little bmx-type "pump track" - there was also a creek and some trails. Anyway, there was a big pile of ice behind the rink, so Anton made a snowman.

After lots of playing outside by the building, we finally took Anna inside. She really loved it. These little tripod thingy's were very cool. She kept this up for almost 2 hours. She mostly skated like this, but she did venture off a little on her own. She could totally do it, but it felt scary to her. She takes after Tony in almost every way, but she is like me in that respect.We didn't think Emma would be up for it, but she kept asking to go to. She didn't last very long, but she was pretty excited and happy to be out there at least 1/2 of the time.

This is it for our Breckenridge pictures. I've got some camping pictures that I'll do next, and then we'll be back to our normal everyday life. We are so thankful that we got to have such a wonderful time in beautiful Breckenridge!

CO Part 2 - Breckenridge!!

There were lots of wildflowers to explore in Breckenridge!!Having a teenager is like 98% sooooo much fun!!!!Here's our cabin at about 10,000 feet. We all felt the altitude! We really loved Brec in the summer!! It definitely helped that we had a trail right at the end of the street! Here's the view from the back deck.

I got to go on LOTS of bike rides - at least one every day! It was soooo great!!! Between the high altitude (your body has to work a lot harder and burns more calories just to pump blood... in case you didn't know) and all the exercise, I think I lost at least 5 pounds. Unfortunately I think I gained it all back at the end of the trip while we were camping..... Anyway, here I am very excited to head out on a ride!

Anton enjoyed sleeping in late almost every day.

Junior had a nice big fenced yard to sniff around in (below the deck).

My girls were very good about wearing their hats in the bright sun - and looking so so cute!

This was our little street. An awesome trail starts at the end where the wall of trees is. Tony took Anna for a walk almost every day. It was usually just Anna because Emma got used to sleeping in way late, but she was awake for this one and Tony took TONS of pictures of them in the wildflowers.

A family hike to a nearby picnic bench with a view. Those are slopes in the background. It really made me want to go skiing!

We found this little creek. The kids all LOVED playing here. The girls could have thrown rocks for hours every day!

Anton was always up for watching a movie with the girls. There was a small stash of Disney movies. Anna's favorite was Beauty and the Beast.Awwwww.....

Anton spent one day volunteering with a group who was working on some mountain biking trails. He helped build this ramp. That's the ski slopes in the background.

I've recently realized that Tony and don't take many pictures of just the 2 of us, so I've been trying to think about it more. I think this is one of maybe 3 from the whole trip. As my mama would say, some is better'n none!!!
